Fall has always been my favorite time of year, and there's something special about seeing the mountains come alive with autumn color. Along Colorado's Million Dollar Highway, golden aspens framed a mountainside of deep greens and warm yellows beneath a brilliant blue sky. With the sun shining and the quiet of the mountains all around me, I couldn't help but stop and take it all in.
I captured this scene toward the end of a long van trip, just as the changing seasons were beginning to show. Seeing those familiar signs of fall brought a sense of excitement and joy, and the mountain rising above the sea of gold and green left me in awe of the beauty around me.
This photograph is a reminder of why I love exploring the natural world: there's always something new to discover, and sometimes the most memorable moments are the ones you never planned for.
